Safer Care Victoria supports Improvement and Innovation Advisors in 32 participating health services (in 2019-20).

What does the Improvement and Innovation Advisor do?
Champion improvement science
Demonstrate how it can help to understand and address the problems faced by the health service.
Coach others
Uplift the capability of staff to help improvement initiatives achieve sustainability.
Provide advice
Act as a subject matter expert with a repository of knowledge and understanding and links to wider sources of expertise.
Advisors have a broad range of knowledge, skills and experience in:

Background
Originally launched as the Redesigning Hospital Care Program in 2008, the Improvement and Innovation Program has led to a range of tangible improvements in patient care and organisational efficiency.
Participating health services receive funding and support to employ a full-time Improvement and Innovation Advisor.
Throughout the year health services take part in knowledge sharing and capability building activities.
