Enhancing Stroke Care: Meeting National Stroke Targets in Victoria
Our goal
To improve timely access to evidence-based stroke treatments in Victorian health services, in line with the 30/60/90 National Stroke Targets.
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in Victoria. Time-critical treatments, such as intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular thrombectomy, can reduce permanent brain damage and/or disability if provided within the initial hours after stroke symptoms begin. Receiving care in a certified stroke unit also increases the chance of good outcomes following a stroke.
This project will begin the initial work towards the meeting the 30/60/90 National Stroke Targets by testing improvement ideas within health services across Victoria.
Together, we’re focusing on coordinating stroke response systems, optimizing clinical management, and building a stroke capable workforce.
