The SCV annual plan 2021–22 details what we will deliver in the next year to achieve our vision of outstanding healthcare for all Victorians.
The plan details key activities and targets against our strategic priorities:

Key activities
In the next year, we will:
- launch our 100,000 lives initiative, a five-year program of work to prevent harm in hospitals, reduce readmissions and ensure safer, more effective and person-centred care for 100,000 Victorians
- design and launch a new mental health improvement unit, a key recommendation from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System
- develop and implement new engagement and advisory bodies including governance and oversight committees that will deliver insights and guide SCV’s work.
- lead legislative reforms that will ensure health services apologise to any person seriously harmed while receiving care, allow families access to the information that comes from a health service’s review, and provide a protected space for health services to conduct the review
- hold our third GIANT STEPS healthcare quality and safety conference, building on the success of our flagship events in 2019 and 2021
- build or upgrade multiple systems and processes, including a new sentinel events reporting portal, the Victorian Perinatal Data Collection and the voluntary assisted dying portal.
