This is a comprehensive report of how Safer Care Victoria has worked to improve the quality and safety of Victorian healthcare in 2019–20.
We give an honest account of our performance, achievements and challenges for those we work closest with – consumers, clinicians, health services and government.
This report highlights the many quality and safety improvements Victorian health services have partnered with us in, including:
- reaching the state’s lowest still birth rate in almost 20 years through our earlier Movements Matter campaign and now our Safer Baby Collaborative, which helped prevent 13 stillbirths at 21 participating sites in five months
- preventing the long-term effects of severe perineal tears, with a 20 per cent decrease at sites participating in our Better Births Collaborative
- reducing falls and hospitals through better screening for delirium through our Delirium Collaborative.
This report fulfils our responsibilities under the Minister for Health’s statement of expectations. Please note: our financial accounts are published as part of the Department of Health and Human Services’ annual report.
