Maternity and newborn

We’re seeking feedback on the new draft clinical guidance for maternal sepsis. Consultation is open now and closes Tuesday 26 November (11:59pm AEDT).

The goal of this draft guidance is to offer evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, healthcare organisations, health professionals, researchers and the public on the diagnosis and management of suspected maternal sepsis.

This guidance was created to address a critical gap in the diagnosis and management of suspected sepsis during pregnancy. We extend our sincere thanks to representatives from Victoria’s Level 6 maternity services for their contributions to the initial draft. We are also deeply grateful to the Maternity Expert Working Group and consumer representatives for ensuring the relevance of this guidance to maternity services across the state, while prioritising women and families at the heart of decision making.
