Safer Care Victoria is undertaking a consultative process to develop a Quality and Safety Capability Framework. This framework will outline capability expectations for healthcare workers and consumers who support the delivery of safe and quality care throughout the Victorian Health system.

We are seeking expressions of interest from subject matter experts with demonstrated experience in: 

  • safety culture
  • improvement science
  • quality and safety
  • human factors.

Members of the consultation group will:

  • Contribute to the development of the framework and contribute to safer, more effective, person-centred care for Victorians. 
  • Share knowledge, experience and understanding of best practice related to the expectations for quality and safety capabilities for workforce and consumers.
  • Add to their professional growth and reputations, by showcasing their commitment to patient safety and healthcare excellence. 

Who should apply

We encourage applications from subject matter experts with demonstrated experience in: 

  • Healthcare workforce capability frameworks and strategies
  • Clinical governance for quality and safety in healthcare
  • Safety 1 in healthcare (including, but not limited to, familiarity with adverse patient safety event responses)
  • Human factors and resilient health systems
  • Improvement science
  • Consumer partnerships in healthcare improvement
  • Consumers and individuals with lived experience engaged in improving quality and safety in healthcare.

Selection process

We are seeking 10 people to join the advisory group and express interest to participate in consultation activities. Selection criteria include:

  • Ensuring representation of subject matter expertise in a range of domains to inform the framework’s development.
  • Demonstrated proven experience in improvement projects, safety reviews and responses, clinical governance, and consumer partnerships for quality and safety.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in capability development.

What's involved

Advisory group members will be required to attend:

  • attend an initial meeting on Tuesday 10 December 2024
  • attend 3-4 follow up virtual meetings (2 hours per meeting)
  • review and contribute to documents shared via email.

Please note: participation in the advisory group is voluntary.
