Meeting my healthcare team

Your healthcare team will look different depending on your needs, whether you decide to have surgery and where you have your surgery. Also, some job titles and roles will be different from place to place.

Make sure you discuss your needs with your healthcare team so they can ensure you have the right support throughout your entire surgical journey.

Understanding my treatment options

Is surgery right for me?

Surgery is not right for everyone. It is important you talk to your healthcare team about your treatment options and decide together about your treatment plan.

There are many things that can increase your risk of complications from surgery and affect your treatment options. For example, having low fitness, needing help for daily activities, the medication you take and having other health issues such as heart disease and diabetes.

Updated Victorian Cardiovascular Dashboard goes live

We are pleased to announce the addition of new metrics into our existing Victorian Cardiovascular Dashboard (VCD).

The new metrics are for:

  • in-or-out hospital mortality within 30 days of first admission for selected cardiac and stroke conditions
  • cardiac-related hospital acquired complications (HACs) indicators.

This latest release of dashboard measures will further support quality improvement in cardiovascular care with your health service.
