In August 2023, we announced the Safer Care for Kids project. This project aims to implement the following recommendations made by paediatric clinicians, consumers and health service managers who identified reasons for potential harm to paediatric patients:

We are committed to updating our maternity and neonatal eHandbooks as a priority project. Over the next 12 months, we will systematically update over 100 guidance items using the highest level of evidence available or by expert consensus agreement, where evidence is lacking. 

The Neonatal eHandbook is a trusted and indispensable guide for healthcare professionals caring for neonates in Victoria. Our updates will strengthen this resource.

Recently published evidence has demonstrated that tight blood pressure targets in pregnancy are associated with improved maternal outcomes and are not associated with increased risk for the unborn baby. CCOPMM have observed an increase in maternal and fetal morbidity associated with delayed treatment of elevated blood pressure.
