Applications are open for the Check Again Network

Applications are open for healthcare services to partner with us in a penicillin allergy assessment and delabelling program.

Our aim is to ensure Victorians have access to the most appropriate and safe antibiotics. Penicillins are a critical first line treatment for some bacterial infections (such as pneumonia) that can be life threatening. If a penicillin antibiotic cannot be prescribed, doctors are forced to use second line antibiotics, which may be more toxic and less effective.

Why apply

The Check Again Network will provide your team with the opportunity to build on evidence for 'Quality Statement 3 - Adverse reactions to antimicrobials' in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Care Standard (2020)

It will also provide access to resources and education sessions (including special guest speakers).

Teams at hospitals with no existing penicillin allergy program can:

  • access resources and support to build a local penicillin allergy assessment program
  • learn from other hospitals who have successfully implemented a program
  • access clinical experts in the area of penicillin allergies.

Teams at hospitals with an existing penicillin allergy program can:

  • access targeted education sessions and collaboration events to help progress your penicillin allergy assessment and delabelling program.

Who are we looking for

Applications are open to all Victorian healthcare services that provide care to people with a penicillin allergy, including the following healthcare services:

  • metropolitan, rural, or regional
  • subacute or acute
  • private or public
  • adult or paediatric.

How to apply

You are invited to submit an expression of interest to join the Check Again Network.

The initial phase of The Network is expected to continue until December 2025 and healthcare services can apply at any time.

Here's how to submit an expression of interest:
