E-Learning package
Our new e-learning package helps maternity services to record and report cervical length measurement from morphology scans using the BOS (Birthing Outcomes System).
This helps services to align with the latest evidence-based practices for early identification of short cervical length (16-24 weeks’ gestation).
The e-learning package offers:
- in-depth explanations of the new cervical length measurement field
- an evidence-based escalation matrix for managing cervical length
- access to the latest research on the correlation between short cervical length measurement between 16-24 weeks’ gestation and preterm birth
- additional resources to support clinical education and clinical decision-making.
Equip your maternity care providers with the knowledge and skills to effectively utilize this new feature.

Educational videos
We're also excited to provide two new educational videos to support shared decision making:
1. Cervical Length Measurement (for expecting parents)
This short video provides expecting parents with valuable insights into:
- Preterm Birth: Learn how early detection and early treatment of a short cervix can substantially reduce the risk of preterm birth.
- The Importance of Cervical Length Measurement: Understand what this measurement is and why it's included in the morphology scan.
- Treatment Options for Short Cervical Length: Discover the treatment options available if a shortened cervix is identified.
This video empowers expecting parents with knowledge to actively participate in shared decision-making with their healthcare provider during pregnancy. It's ideal for viewing in ANC waiting rooms and other healthcare settings.
2. Timing of Birth in Complex Pregnancies (For Clinicians)
This video delves into the complexities of timing of birth in complex pregnancies.
Clinicians will gain valuable insights into:
- Factors Influencing Optimal Birth Timing
- Evidence for timing of birth for conditions such as maternal obesity, diabetes, macrosomia, and pre-labour rupture of membranes
- Promoting Shared Decision-Making with Patients
This educational resource is designed to support healthcare professionals in providing the best possible care for their patients with complex pregnancies.
